North East Atlantic Fisheries Commission

NEAFC has closed large areas to bottom fisheries on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge to protect Vulnerable Marine Ecosystems in the High Seas of the North East Atlanti. The closures came into force in April 2009. They are guaranteed to be in place until 2015, with the possibility to extend beyond that time.
