RECOMMENDATION BY THE NORTH EAST ATLANTIC FISHERIES COMMISSION IN ACCORDANCE WITH ARTICLE 5 OF THE CONVENTION ON FUTURE MULTILATERAL COOPERATION IN NORTH-EAST ATLANTIC FISHERIES AT ITS ANNUAL MEETING IN NOVEMBER 2007 TO ADOPT A RECOMMENDATION FOR THE PROTECTION OF VULNERABLE DEEP-WATER HABITATS IN THE NEAFC REGULATORY AREA

The Contracting Parties recommend the following measures:
1. Bottom trawling and fishing with static gear shall be prohibited in the following areas: a) The Hecate and Faraday seamounts, and a section of the Reykjanes Ridge. b) The Altair seamounts. c) The Antialtair seamounts.
The coordinates delimiting each area are given in Appendix 1.
2. This measure shall be in force for the period 1 January 2008 – 31 December 2008.
